Hey Brights: A Casual Display Font for Creative Projects

I was staring at a blank brand board one afternoon, the kind of moment that makes you question your life choices. The client wanted something fresh, something that felt modern but not too serious. I opened up my font library and landed on Hey Brights. It wasn’t an obvious choice, but there was something about its all-caps structure and casual style that made me curious.

Hey Brights is an all-caps display font with a casual style, and after testing it across several branding elements, I can say it’s exactly what it promises to be. It doesn’t scream “corporate” or “formal,” which is a good thing when you’re designing for a boutique or creative studio. The letterforms are clean, slightly rounded, and have a friendly energy that feels approachable without being childish.

A Logo That Feels Like a Conversation

I tested Hey Brights on a logo concept for a new skincare brand. The name was short and punchy, so using Hey Brights in all caps gave it a bold presence. It didn’t feel too heavy, though, which is a balance I appreciate in display fonts. Compared to other similar fonts, Hey Brights had a more relaxed rhythm—less rigid than some geometric sans serifs and more playful than a script typeface.

The font worked well as a standalone logo, but I also paired it with a serif font for body text on the website. This combination created contrast while maintaining visual harmony. If you're working on a logo design or brand identity, Hey Brights could be a great fit for names that need a bit of character without sacrificing legibility.

From Packaging Mockups to Social Media Layouts

Next, I used Hey Brights on a packaging mockup for a handmade candle brand. The label needed to stand out against a dark background, and Hey Brights did just that. Its boldness made the product feel premium, yet the casual style kept it from feeling too stiff. I noticed that the font’s slight curves added warmth to the design, which helped the overall look feel more inviting.

On social media layouts, Hey Brights shined in headlines and callouts. It had enough weight to grab attention without overwhelming the content. For Instagram posts or Facebook banners, this font could work wonders for creating eye-catching graphics that still maintain a sense of brand voice.

When I tested it on a business card, it looked sharp and clean, especially when printed in black on white. However, I would caution against using it in small sizes or for long paragraphs of body text. Hey Brights is best suited as a display font, headline font, or accent font rather than for extended reading.

Font Pairing and Practical Considerations

One of the things I liked about Hey Brights was how easily it paired with other fonts. For a café visual refresh project, I combined it with a clean sans serif for menus and a handwritten script for signature lines. The contrast between the casual and structured fonts gave the brand a balanced yet dynamic feel.

If you're considering Hey Brights for your next project, make sure to test it thoroughly before finalizing any client work. Try it on different backgrounds, sizes, and in various contexts like web headers, print materials, or digital ads. Also, check the licensing terms if you plan to use it in commercial projects such as brand identity, packaging, templates, merchandise, or websites.

Hey Brights supports multiple languages and comes in a variety of weights and styles, making it versatile for different applications. It's available in standard file formats and webfont versions, which is helpful for both print and digital use.

In the end, Hey Brights proved to be a reliable companion for creative projects that require a touch of personality without compromising professionalism. Whether you're working on a logo, packaging design, or social media content, this font has a unique charm that can elevate your designs. Just remember to use it where it shines most—on display, not in long-form text—and always pair it wisely with supporting typefaces for the best results.
